Month 9 of 12
Identity beyond loss
Who you are becoming, slowly.
This month's theme
Loss changes you. There is no version of you that walks through this and comes out untouched. For a long time, grief can feel like the loudest thing about you, the lens you see yourself through, the first thing you'd say if you were honest. This month is a soft invitation to notice that you are still here, still becoming. You are a person who has loved a baby. You are also a person with a laugh, a favourite song, a way of making tea, a faith, a story still being written. Becoming again is not betrayal. It is what your baby's love makes room for.
Three soft prompts
Sit with one. Or all three. Or none today. They will wait for you.
If a kind stranger asked who you are today, what would you want to say beyond "someone who lost a baby"?
What is one part of you, a passion, a friendship, a small joy, that grief has quieted, that you'd like to gently invite back in?
What is one new thing about yourself you've noticed since the loss, a softness, a strength, a knowing, that you didn't have before?
This stays only with you, on this device. Nothing is sent or saved.
Affirmation
“I am not only my loss. I am still becoming, and my baby is part of who I'm becoming.”
